Weekly Schedule for May 11

This week, we will be working on a form of improv theatre known as Playback Theatre. It mixes improvisation, acting, and community engagement. Call it improv with therapeutic applications.
The format is known as Playback Theatre. Playback Theatre takes audience member’s life stories and brings them onstage. Our goal this week will be to take real stories and break them down into improvised presentations of how the person might have felt or what we read from how the person tells the story, rather than retellings. Follow the directions below for each day:

Monday: Your assignment today will be to watch the videos below and to email me with two things you have learned about Playback Theatre, as well as two questions you have about Playback Theatre, based on the videos. Email these four things by 4pm.

Wednesday: We will have a Zoom class at 10:30 am to discuss how we will use Playback Theatre over the next week in our improvisation. Be ready, when you come to class, to tell a story about a time when you felt surprised, or a time when you felt really proud of yourself, or even a time when you felt really scared. THESE stories will be important for Wednesday, as we will use them for this project.
